Academic Expansion
Initially the affiliation of the college granted by the University of Calcutta up to P.U. and B.A. standard for the first time The College was granted extension of affiliation in B.Com. (Pass) and B.Sc. (Pass) by C.U. in 1973 and in 1980 respectively. H.S. course in Arts, Science and Commerce was introduced in 1977. However, in pursuance of the all-India policy to attach the plus section with schools rather than colleges, the State Government notified the discontinuances of H.S. section and accordingly there is no H.S. section in the college at present since 1995. As result of setting up of Vidyasagar University in 1981, Ramnagar College came under the jurisdiction of it like all the colleges of Midnapore District. The college in the mean time the college got affiliation in many new subjects to its curriculum as follows:
- B.Com. (Hons.) in 1988.
- Philosophy (Hons.) in 1991.
- Industrial Fish & Fisheries, B.Sc. (Major) course in 1995.
- Honours in History and Mathematics in 1996.
- Bengali (Hons.) in 1998.
- Political Science (Hons.), Botany (Gen) and Sociology (Gen) in 2001.
- Honours in English, Sanskrit and Physics in 2002.
- Honours Chemistry and Botany in 2004.
- Honours in Zoology, Geography (Gen) and Nutrition (Gen) in 2005.
- Honours in Geography and Music (Gen) in 2006.
- Honours in Nutrition and Aquaculture Management and Technology and Physiology (Gen) in 2007.
- Sociology (Hons.) in 2008.
- B.Voc. in (i) Hospitality and Tourism Management and (ii) Fishery and Farm Management in 2015.
- Defence Studies (Gen) under consideration of the Government in 2016.
- B.Voc in Food Processing Technology in the year of 2021
- M.A. in Bengali 2018
- M.Sc. in Fishery Science in 2019.
Academic Calender
- First Phase: 1st July to beginning og Puja holidays.
- Second Phase: From the date of opening of Puja Holidays to winter Recess.
- Third Phase: From the date of opening after Winter Reess up to summer Recess.
Percentage of Attendance:
Students must have requisite percentage of attendance before they are sent up for University Examination:
- Collegiate: 75% and above.
