Minority Cell

Ramnagar College always deals all the issues relating to the interests of minority communities students over the years. The college religiously believes in inclusiveness in every sphere of its activities. In fact, it forms an important part of our cardinal principles of higher education system.

In case of students admission the college strictly adheres to the reservation norms enacted by the Government. The benefit of reservation to minority students is ensured like all other students belonging to other categories of reserved categories. They are also treated at par in case of remedial classes, career council activities and the like.

Thus the college does not discriminate them in extending legitimate facilities in different areas of college’s academic and overall management system.

In this connection it may be pointed out that all these activates of the college were monitoring by the Principal individually by taking assistance of other Teachers and experienced NTS members. But keeping its importance in the recent years the college has decided to constitute a committee to look after all the issues relating to the interests of minority communities in an organized manner.

As a result on 07.07.2022 a Committee was so set up as follows:

Objectives

  1. To ensure equal opportunities to all the student belonging to minority communities,
  2. To make them aware of various scholarship facilities offered by various government and non-government agencies,
  3. To assist them for filling up such scholarship forms both off line and online platforms,
  4. To provide them a conducive environment so that they could interact with all other section students,
  5. To assist and council them in different academic issues like career planning, study preparation, social awareness etc.

Formation of the Cell

It is a six members Committee as noted below:

Meetings & Resolutions

  • The First meeting of the Committee was held on 17.07.2023.The major decisions passed through that meeting under the Chairmanship of Principal Dr Ananta Mohan Mishra are:
  1. The admission Committee is requested to publish the list of eligible students belonging to minorities separately,
  2. The said list be published through various WhatsApp Groups of the students in addition to the list published in college website,
  3. In case of special request, if any comes from a minority students that he/she requires part payment opportunity in paying admission fees, the same be allowed,
  4. If request comes, the Minority Cell will arrange separate Career Counseling classes for the benefit of the applicant, and
  5. It was also resolved that no application of a minority student seeking admission in the college will be refused till the intake is exhausted.
  • Resolution of the Second meeting of the Cell was convened on 12.12.2023

This meeting was also chaired by the Principal Dr Ananta Mohan Mishra

After confirming the resolution s taken in the last meeting held on 07.05.2023, the cell resolved the following:

  1. The member all expressed satisfaction that applicants intending to get admission in 1st semester programme had been accommodated in the college without any refusal,
  2. Further decided that from next year a help desk under the supervision of the Cell will be opened so that interested students belonging to Minority Community will be assisted & counseled  well before submitting their application from the next academic session,
  3. Further resolved that they will be offered similar assistance for submitting various Scholarship applications from time to time,
  4. They will be counseled both personally and through group in progressing their higher education like any other students.
  • Under the Chairmanship of the Principal Dr Ananta Mohan Mishra, Third Meeting of the Cell was held on 08.06.2024 and the major decisions taken in that meeting are:
  1. Ratification and approval of the proceedings of the meeting of the Cell held on 12.12.2023,

 

 

 

 

  1. Giving emphasis on extending the functioning of the help desk assistance among the prospective minority community students,
  2. Request for providing a separate room to the Cell for its functioning in a desired manner.
  3. Request to the college for providing office furniture and a computer to the Minority Cell.
  4. Preparation of Minority Data Bank.

ACTION TAKEN REPORT

So far the Committee recommended various promotional policies and infrastructural support for the smooth functioning of the Cell. The College management is agreed upon such recommendations, though a few of them has been implemented through action. The major actions taken in this case are

  1. Opening of help desk for assisting the prospective students at the time of submitting application for admission in first semester programme,
  2. Arrangement  and distribution of leaflets among the minority students highlighting various benefits and facilities offered to them by the college as well as supplying them different scholarship links for submitting scholarship application.
  3. Special care for slow learner students so that they could recover their study and learning deficiencies,
  4. Arrangement of a separate room with furniture and fixtures are under pipeline.
