The NPTEL stands for National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning. This is a project of MHRD, Government of India, initiated by seven Indian Institutes of Technology ( IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras,IIT Guwahati and IIT Roorkee ) along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2003, to provide quality education to anyone interested in learning from the IITs. The main goal was to create web and video courses in all major branches of engineering and physical sciences at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and management courses at the postgraduate level. For more information, Refer to https://nptel.ac.in/ .
NPTEL has been offering self-study courses across engineering, humanities and science streams for more than a decade. From March 2014, NPTEL has been offering online certification for its courses, the highlight being the certification exam through which the student gets an opportunity to earn a certificate form the IITs & IISc! These are available at: https://swayam.gov.in/NPTEL
For expanding this initiative and to motivate more students of UG and PG level across colleges and universities to participate in it, NPTEL are setting up SWAYAM-NPTEL local chapter in colleges. The local chapter runs under the headship of a faculty member (called SPOC) of the college.
The Ramnagar College has become SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter since 13/06/2024 to provide support to its students and teachers to this MOOCs initiative by MHRD. The LC Code of Ramnagar College is LC-6561 and is co-ordinated by IIT Kharagpur. The faculty members of Ramnagar College may act as mentor of any course run by the NPTEL. "Unless the condition of women is improved, there is no chance for the welfare of the world," stated Swami Vivekananda. A bird cannot sustain flight with just one wing. Regretfully, our society has historically routinely tortured women for no other reason than their biological sex. Such institutionalized discrimination from the past denies women their entitlement to equal opportunities and resources and shows social discord. Being a coeducational college, Ramnagar College has long been committed to achieving gender parity. We do think that when both parties are able to collaborate in a friendly setting, an inclusive society can emerge.
In order to improve awareness of issues pertaining to female students and to create a safe environment for them on campus, the college established a Women Cell for female faculty, staff, and students. The cell organizes and takes part in seminars and talks, addresses women's issues and problems, and aims to raise awareness of women's rights and duties. Additionally, it gives women a forum to express their opinions and experiences about their place in society as well as ideas for self- improvement and empowerment. The cell supports women's empowerment by facilitating awareness campaigns, entrepreneur training, life skill development, guest lectures, seminars, and other programs with the goal of intellectual and social upliftment for female students. Women Cell seeks to empower and orient women to identify their own potential and help them carve out a place for themselves in society. The total development of the individual in all areas of their life is the aim.
The Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell works to prevent and address all forms of sexual harassment within the college. We aim to create a supportive atmosphere where students, faculty, and staff can engage in their academic and professional pursuits without fear of harassment or discrimination.
The college wants to provide and preserve a safe, friendly, and healthy learning environment free from sexual harassment and gender discrimination for female employees and female students.
To enhance the perception of women in society and acknowledge their contributions to the political, social, and economic spheres.
To increase female staff members' and students' sense of self-worth and confidence.
To raise awareness of gender-related issues, employment, health, and social issues pertaining to women.
To acknowledge women's contributions to building

Ramnagar College always deals all the issues relating to the interests of minority communities students over the years. The college religiously believes in inclusiveness in every sphere of its activities. In fact, it forms an important part of our cardinal principles of higher education system. In case of students admission the college strictly adheres to the reservation norms enacted by the Government. The benefit of reservation to minority students is ensured like all other students belonging to other categories of reserved categories. They are also treated at par in case of remedial classes, career council activities and the like.
Thus the college does not discriminate them in extending legitimate facilities in different areas of college's academic and overall management system.
In this connection it may be pointed out that all these activates of the college were monitoring by the Principal individually by taking assistance of other Teachers and experienced NTS members. But keeping its importance in the recent years the college has decided to constitute a committee to look after all the issues relating to the interests of minority communities in an organized manner. As a result on 07.07.2023 a Committee was so set up as follows:
i)
To ensure equal opportunities to all the student belonging to minority communities,
ii)
To make them aware of various scholarship facilities offered by various government and non-government agencies,
iii)
To assist them for filling up such scholarship forms both off line and online platforms,
iv)
To provide them a conducive environment so that they could interact with all other section students,
v)
To assist and council them in different academic issues like career planning, study preparation, social awareness etc.
It is a six members Committee as noted below:
